Berkeley PR
January 2009
UK businesses struggling to manage cash flow this January may be shocked by the news that they could
actually be paying up to 25 per cent over the odds for their stationery and office supplies.
A lack of purchasing control and the use of multiple suppliers means that most companies are paying a
significantly inflated price for volume products such as paper and printer cartridges and have no real
visibility of their spending in these cost centres.
“It’s become more important than ever for companies to think about tightening their belts for the New Year,”
says Gary Burns, Netstationers Sales Director. “Most companies don’t realise how much money they can waste
on products that don’t actually contribute to their core business activities. Rather than lose staff or cut
back on client commitments, why not just look at some simple strategies like streamlining your office supplies
procurement?”
The research comes from the customer base of Netstationers, an online office supplies business serving all of
the UK. The company provides each customer with a free, tailored web based ordering system through which UK
businesses can purchase all office supplies - such as stationery, furniture and print – quickly and simply.
Netstationer’s ordering system can also be incorporated into the customer’s accounting processes, providing
businesses with the opportunity to better understand and reduce costs through improved visibility of all transactions.
